L.A.'s Finest is an action-packed police procedural series created by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, which premiered on Spectrum on May 3, 2019. The show follows two detectives, former DEA agent Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union) and LAPD detective Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), who become partners and go beyond the call of duty to fight crime in the city of Los Angeles.

Syd, who was first introduced to audiences in the 2003 movie Bad Boys II, has left the DEA and relocated to L.A. to start a new life. Meanwhile, Nancy is a working wife and mother who is always striving for excellence both on the job and in her personal life. Although they have different backgrounds and personalities, the two detectives share a mutual respect and a determination to keep the streets safe.

Throughout the show, Syd and Nancy investigate a series of high-profile cases involving drug cartels, human trafficking, and organized crime. They use their unique skills and unrelenting work ethic to bring the culprits to justice, even if it means putting themselves in danger.

In addition to Union and Alba, the show boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Duane Martin as Nancy's husband, Ben; Zach Gilford as Ben's best friend, Ben Walker; Ryan McPartlin as a drug lord named Patrick McKenna; Sophie Reynolds as Isabel McKenna, Nancy's rebellious stepdaughter; and Ernie Hudson as Joseph Burnett, Syd's father.

The chemistry between Union and Alba is one of the show's biggest strengths. The two actresses play off each other with ease and have a natural rapport that adds depth to their characters' partnership. Syd is the older and more experienced detective, while Nancy is the rookie who is eager to prove herself, but they both have their own strengths and weaknesses that they bring to the table.

The show also balances the action and drama with moments of humor and heart. The interactions between the characters are often laced with witty one-liners and playful banter, which help to break up the tension and provide some levity. The show also explores the personal lives of the main characters, delving into their backstories and relationships with their loved ones.

One of the other standout elements of the show is its production quality. L.A.'s Finest has an impressive budget, which is evident in its high-octane car chases, explosive gun battles, and stunning set pieces. The cinematography is sleek and stylish, capturing the beauty of the city of Los Angeles and the adrenaline-fueled action sequences.

Despite its strengths, the show has also faced some criticism. Some viewers have accused the show of being formulaic and predictable, with some of the plot twists feeling contrived. Additionally, some have noted that the show lacks the gritty realism of other police procedurals like The Wire or The Shield.

However, the show remains a fun and entertaining ride, thanks largely to the charisma of its two leads. Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba bring a fresh and modern twist to the buddy cop genre, and their chemistry is infectious. With its eclectic cast, stylish visuals, and edge-of-your-seat action, L.A.'s Finest is a show well worth watching.

L.A.'s Finest is a series that is currently running and has 2 seasons (26 episodes). The series first aired on May 13, 2019.
