After-School Special is the fifth episode from the first season of Let's Eat. This episode follows our beloved foodie, Lee Soo-Kyung, as she tries to navigate the ups and downs of life as a single woman living in Seoul.
The episode begins with Lee Soo-Kyung's friend, Yoon Jin-Yi, inviting her to dinner at her new restaurant. Yoon Jin-Yi is a former classmate of Lee Soo-Kyung's and has recently opened up her own restaurant. Lee Soo-Kyung eagerly accepts the invitation, excited to finally try out her friend's cooking.
As Lee Soo-Kyung and Yoon Jin-Yi catch up over their meal, Yoon Jin-Yi begins to confide in her friend about her struggles with running the restaurant. Lee Soo-Kyung sympathizes with her friend, feeling overwhelmed herself with her own personal problems.
Later, Lee Soo-Kyung receives a call from her ex-boyfriend, a man she dated for four years who had broken up with her suddenly. He informs her that he will be getting married soon and would like to meet up with her. Lee Soo-Kyung is stunned and unsure of what to do.
The next day, Lee Soo-Kyung meets up with a new client at a cafe. The client is very demanding and particular about what she wants for her event, causing Lee Soo-Kyung much stress. After the meeting, she is able to blow off some steam by attending a cooking class with her neighbor. They cook a traditional Korean dish together and enjoy each other's company.
Later in the episode, Yoon Jin-Yi's restaurant experiences a setback when a negative review is posted online. Lee Soo-Kyung tries to console her friend and suggests they hold a special after-school event at the restaurant to try and draw in more customers.
The episode ends with Lee Soo-Kyung at home, reflecting on her day. She thinks about her ex-boyfriend's upcoming wedding and wonders if she will ever find someone for herself. Despite everything, she is hopeful for the future and looks forward to her next meal.
