The episode begins with Glenn and his friend Keith trekking through the snow to get to Glenn's cabin. Glenn has decided to venture out to explore the area, he wants to go to a remote valley that no one has ever been to before. But before they can start their journey, Glenn must find a way to mark the trails so that they can find their way back home. Along the way, viewers learn about the different types of terrain and obstacles Glenn and Keith face, such as steep cliffs, icy rivers, and thick forests, that make it difficult for them to navigate.

Meanwhile, Erik and his wife Martha are preparing for the winter ahead. They must collect enough firewood to heat their home for the entire winter, which is no easy task.
