Lo Que la Vida Me Robó, season 1, episode 5, titled "Amor Prohibido" follows the story of a forbidden love between Alejandro and Montserrat.

Alejandro and Montserrat's love came from an unlikely source. Alejandro is a hired worker on Montserrat's family's estate; she is the young, privileged heiress to the estate. Despite their differences in social status, they fell deeply in love.

Montse feels stifled by the expectations of her family, especially her mother, and she yearns for freedom. Her mother, Graciela, pressures her to marry Jose Luis, a wealthy business man who supports their family's estate. Jose Luis has fallen in love with her, but Montse is reluctant to return his feelings, as she is in love with Alejandro.

During this episode, the audience witnesses Graciela and her husband, Pedro, argue over Montserrat's love life. Graciela accuses Pedro of being too lenient on Montserrat and that he should side with her on the matter of her daughter marrying Jose Luis.

On the other hand, Pedro believes that Graciela is putting too much pressure on their daughter and is hindering her chance at true love. Pedro encourages Montserrat to follow her heart, protect her love, and live life on her own terms.

As the episode progresses, Jose Luis makes a bold move, confessing his love for Montserrat. She is hesitant and unsure what to do, as she cannot reciprocate the feelings. Jose Luis presses her, telling her that he knows that Alejandro is the reason she is hesitant to marry him. Montserrat is hurt and confounded by Jose Luis's reveal, and she feels vulnerable and exposed.

Alejandro, meanwhile, is a steadfast character who stands by Montse's side. He holds their love in high esteem and wants to marry her, despite their cultural differences. Alejandro upholds the values that align with his feelings, in stark contrast with the Greedy characters who value money, power, and being the center of attention.

This episode shows how love can be complicated and how both internal and external factors, such as social classes and parental influence, can place constraints on love. In this situation, Montserrat's struggle is not just about choosing between two men; it's about choosing between obedience to her mother or following her heart.

"Amor Prohibido" gives us an opportunity to see how love can bridge class gaps. Moreover, it shows how people from different backgrounds can come together and build up blocks of support for each other. This episode is a portrayal of the power of love and the impact love has on the lives of the people that experience it.
