Ep 3. Chrysalis

Walt Longmire, the devoted sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, returns for the fifth season of the hit show Longmire. In season 5, episode 3, titled "Chrysalis," Shorty, one of the oldest and most respected members of the Cheyenne reservation, is found dead in his home. Though she's used to being the top dog in the courtroom, Cady is facing some tough opposition this time around. She turns to her father for advice and guidance, but even Walt might not be able to help her when things get really ugly.

As always, Longmire strikes a delicate balance between tense crime drama and warm family moments. While we're eager to know who killed Shorty and why, we're also invested in the relationships between these characters. Walt and his team are like a second family to each other, and we're invested in their lives just as much as we are in the mysteries they solve.

In this particular episode, we get to see even more of the complex relationships on the reservation. We see old friendships tested as people take sides in the investigation. We see how hard Walt is willing to work to get to the truth, even when he's not sure he likes what he's finding. And we see how much Shorty meant to so many people, even as he struggled with his own demons.

Longmire has always been a powerhouse in terms of its performances, and "Chrysalis" is no exception. Robert Taylor continues to impress as Walt, seamlessly blending the character's tough exterior with his deep love for his friends and family. Lou Diamond Phillips is also fantastic as tribal police chief Henry, who balances his own investigations with his loyalties to his community. And Katee Sackhoff shines as Vic, Walt's right-hand woman, who has to face her own fears and doubts to get to the truth.

Overall, "Chrysalis" is a gripping episode that keeps us on the edge of our seats while also deepening our understanding of the characters we know and love. It's a testament to the show's ability to blend great storytelling with strong performances, and we're excited to see where the rest of season 5 takes us.
