Ep 2. Resortwear

In the second episode of Making the Cut season 2, the 10 remaining designers are tasked with creating elevated resortwear looks that can be worn from day to night. The episode starts with the designers waking up in a luxurious villa in Los Angeles where they are greeted by hosts Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn. They are immediately given their assignment and sent to Mood fabric store to choose fabrics for their designs.

Back in the studio, the designers start sketching their ideas and working on their pieces. Some play it safe with classic resortwear looks, while others try to push the boundaries with unconventional materials and techniques. The clock is ticking and tensions are high as they race to finish their outfits before the runway show.

Some designers shine in this challenge, impressing the judges with their unique takes on resortwear. One designer uses hand-painted silk to create a vibrant caftan, while another pairs a chic jumpsuit with a flowy kimono. However, not everyone is so successful. One designer struggles with fit issues and another creates a look that is described as too safe and uninspired.

As the judges deliberate, tensions rise in the holding room as the designers anxiously await the results. In the end, one designer is declared the winner and another is sent home.
