Marcella is a gripping British television series which first premiered on ITV in 2016. The series is a crime thriller that follows the life of a former detective, Marcella Backland, as she deals with personal and professional struggles while working on difficult and complex cases.

Anna Friel takes on the lead role, portraying Marcella Backland, a character who is complex, troubled and with a troubled past. Marcella is a divorcee and single mother, and is struggling to balance her work and personal life. She is a brilliant detective who has a unique ability to solve crimes, however, her personal life is a mess, which ultimately creates tension between her and her colleagues.

The show is set in London, and throughout the series, viewers get an insight into the gritty and darker aspects of the city. The storyline is intense, taking on some of the most disturbing crimes in society, and delving deep into the psychological aspects of each of the cases.
