When they reach the oasis, Messy and friends, excited to splash around, are urged not to jump into the water by Zam, Okido's desert expert. Zam explains that the new oasis is not like the others and that they need to investigate it further before they can safely enter the water. The friends ask him how the oasis could have come about, and he tells them that the most likely explanation is a phenomenon called an Artesian spring - a natural occurrence that happens when underground water is suddenly forced up to the surface.

To investigate, Betonica, the scientist, and Messy's long-time friend, arrives with a group of explorers and sets up a campsite that includes equipment to test the water, soil, and air around the new oasis. To everyone's surprise, Betonica reveals that the Artesian spring in Okido is not natural but that it is connected to The Urpflanze - Okido's version of the Tree of Life.

As they learn about the Okidonian ancestor's history, it gets thrilling.
