Milo Murphy, the eternal optimist who believes that anything that can go wrong will go wrong, faces yet another day with that famous Murphy's Law on his side. In season 1 episode 12 of "Milo Murphy's Law" titled "Murphy's Lard," Milo encounters a chain of events that tests his resolve and patience.
The opening scene has Milo's friend Sara asking him to watch a pig for her, which he warns her against since he knows that he often attracts bad luck. Nevertheless, he accepts the task. But what starts as a simple babysitting job turns into a chaotic series of mishaps and accidents.
For starters, the pig, which Milo has dubbed Mr. Bacon, gets loose and runs away from Milo. Despite his best efforts, Milo can't seem to keep up with the pig, who happens to be incredibly fast for its size. Along the way, Milo encounters many obstacles that make it harder for him to retrieve Mr. Bacon.
Milo's friends Melissa and Zack also follow him to help, but they are not immune to the chaos as they also get mixed up in the mishaps that befall them. They fall into a pit, run into a tree, and accidentally pour glue on themselves, among other things.
As if the task of finding Mr. Bacon wasn't enough, Milo also has to deal with his usual problem: a time-based curse. Candace, his older sister and aspiring famous singer, is hosting a food festival called "Murphy's Lard" where singers battle one another to see who can perform the best jingle for a new type of fried food. It is up to Milo, Sara, Melissa, and Zack to find Mr. Bacon, return it to Sara, and also make it to the festival in time.
Meanwhile, the competition in the festival is also heating up. Candace, who is still unaware of her brother's curse, is determined to win the competition, despite her lack of cooking skills. In her cafe, notorious for serving boiled hot dogs, she decides to unveil her new dish: "chip fried lard." However, the other competitors, who include a group of chefs from all over the world, are not impressed.
As Milo undergoes his adventure, he meets up with various eccentric and colorful characters that add to the show's excitement. For example, there's Brigette Murphy, Milo's great-grandmother who is 100 years old and still incredibly sharp. She runs the family legacy called the Murphy Home, where she has a team of assistants who specialize in cleaning up after whatever disaster arises.
As the episode progresses, the tension rises as Milo and his friends still haven't found Mr. Bacon. The audience is left wondering if they will ever be able to take care of the pig and also make it to the festival on time. As people at the festival start to get restless, Candace feels the pressure to perform even better but is continuously let down by the quality of her lard options.
