Ep 14. We Need to Talk About Lily

In Modern Family season 10 episode 14, titled "We Need to Talk About Lily," the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan is thrown into chaos when Lily, Cam and Mitchell's adopted daughter, gets into trouble at school. Lily has been acting out in class and is showing signs of emotional distress. Cam and Mitchell decide to take her to a therapist to try and get to the root of the problem.

At the same time, Gloria and Manny are trying to help Phil perfect his magic trick. They offer some constructive criticism, but Phil is resistant to their suggestions. He's convinced that he's got the trick down pat, but when he goes to perform it in front of the Magic Castle judges, he realizes that he's made a big mistake.

Back at the therapist's office, Cam and Mitchell finally get to the bottom of Lily's behavior. It turns out that she's been feeling left out and excluded at school, and her frustration has been manifesting in inappropriate behavior. Cam and Mitchell are able to reassure her that she's loved and valued, and they come up with a plan to help her feel more included.

In the end, Lily's behavior improves and Phil gets a second chance to perform his magic trick. Gloria and Manny help him tweak it, and he ultimately impresses the judges and wins a spot at the Magic Castle. Oh, and Jay's business idea? That doesn't quite work out, but he's able to salvage the day by coming up with a creative solution.

"We Need to Talk About Lily" is a classic episode of Modern Family. It's heartwarming, funny, and full of the kind of hijinks that viewers have come to expect from the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan. While Lily's struggles may be serious, the episode doesn't harp on them too heavily. Instead, it uses the situation as a jumping-off point for plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments.
