Ep 2. A Stereotypical Day

It's another day in the lives of the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan on Modern Family season 8 episode 2, entitled A Stereotypical Day. The episode centers on tackling cultural stereotypes, which abound in this new episode.

Jay is struggling to deal with everything that comes with having a full-time job, something he has avoided up until now. He is working long hours, and it is starting to affect him, especially when he realizes that he is making mistakes. Gloria tries to make him feel better by reminding him of all his other successes, but it is not enough for Jay.

Meanwhile, in order to impress her new friend, Mitchell decides to throw a party that is worthy of a Los Angeles native. However, things don't go exactly according to plan when the theme he chose turns out to be full of cultural stereotypes. Being the good-hearted man that he is, Mitchell tries to find a way to get out of it, but finds himself in a sticky situation.

On the other hand, Claire has a slew of new employees, and after a conversation with one of them, she realizes that they are very different from one another, but still wants to celebrate their collective work. With the help of Phil, she plans a very politically correct and happy hour that will cater to everyone's interests. Things go well until one employee feels left out and starts calling out Claire and her efforts to recognize everyone's culture.

In the meantime, Manny and Luke have their own problems. Luke is trying to convince Manny to become his wingman at a school dance, but Manny is hesitant because he doesn't want to contribute to the thinning Latin population at school. But as the night wears on, Manny finds himself having the time of his life, and realizes that maybe he's not so different from the other kids after all.

A Stereotypical Day is a great continuation of the series, and it is filled with relatable situations that many families experience. It also adds a touch of humor to the mix. With its theme of cultural stereotypes, the show reminds us that we are more alike than we are different, and that is definitely something that is worth celebrating.
