Ep 8. Brushes With Celebrity

When it comes to the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan, there is never a dull moment. In season 9 episode 8 of Modern Family, titled "Brushes With Celebrity," the family takes viewers on a wild ride as they encounter various famous faces.

The episode begins with Phil Dunphy (played by Ty Burrell), who is excited to get his new shoes signed by Denver Nuggets basketball player Jamal Murray. His wife, Claire (played by Julie Bowen), is skeptical, but Phil insists on bringing all of his friends to the signing. When they finally arrive, Phil's friend, Shorty (played by Chazz Palminteri), loses his cool and creates a scene. Meanwhile, Claire has discovered that she has a knack for building a snowman and becomes obsessed with making more.

Over at the Tucker-Pritchett household, Cameron (played by Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson) are surprised to find out that their niece, Cali, has become an internet sensation. She has even been invited to a famous YouTuber's party, with a chance to meet him in person. Cameron and Mitchell are skeptical about the party, but they eventually agree to take Cali. The party turns out to be a disappointment, however, and the family soon learns that not everything you see on social media is real.

Elsewhere, Jay (played by Ed O'Neill) and Gloria (played by Sofia Vergara) have a run-in with a famous novelist – the same novelist who Gloria recently insulted by saying she didn't enjoy his book. Feeling embarrassed, Gloria tries to make up for what she said by showering the novelist with compliments and gifts. Jay, on the other hand, is more interested in getting a deal on a new car.

As the episode progresses, each storyline reaches its conclusion – Phil gets his shoes signed, but not without complications; Claire's obsession with building snowmen eventually leads to a mishap; Cameron and Mitchell learn a valuable lesson about online fame; and Jay and Gloria have an unexpected twist in their encounter with the novelist.

"Brushes With Celebrity" is a typical episode of Modern Family, showcasing the show's ability to weave multiple storylines together while still highlighting the quirks and personalities of each character. The episode's title is fitting, as nearly every member of the family comes into contact with some level of celebrity. Overall, the episode is light-hearted and entertaining, with a few unexpected surprises thrown in for good measure.
