Ep 3. Mozzarella Sticks And A Gay Piano Bar

Bonnie and Christy open the third episode of the third season of Mom by attending a gay piano bar. The entrance of Chateau de Gay surprises them with its grandeur and quirky decorum. Bonnie, especially, is excited and immediately joins the admirers surrounding the piano.

Christy is more reserved and heads to the bar, where she meets a woman named Jill, who quickly divides her focus between Christy and a guy named Luke. Luke, however, has come with another girl named Brooke.

Christy eventually gets drunk and sings along as Jill performs a song on stage, and Bonnie tries to calm her down.

Meanwhile, Wendy arrives at the restaurant where Marjorie works and orders a platter of mozzarella sticks while she waits for her date. Despite the initial excitement, she reveals to Marjorie that she is apprehensive about the date as she fears she may be a gold digger.

The date eventually arrives, and Wendy is taken aback by the man's lack of charm and a certain crudeness.

She decides to leave on the pretext of going to the bathroom when she hears the man joking that he has a fetish for women with stumps.

Marjorie decides to intervene, and in an effort to make Wendy feel better, insists they stay and have dinner together.

Back at the piano bar, Bonnie is having a great time and is tipped heavily by the patrons. She uses the money to buy a round of drinks and meets a woman named Sarah, who flirts with her and asks her if she’d like to go home with her.

Bonnie, in her intoxicated state, agrees and eventually accepts Sarah’s offer to take her home.

However, when they get to Sarah’s place, Bonnie realizes that she was mistaken about Sarah’s intentions and her offer to stay the night was because of the amount of cash Bonnie had on her person.

Rejected and embarrassed, Bonnie leaves Sarah’s house feeling used.

The episode is wrapped with Christy being helped out of the lounge after drinking too much and coming to the realization that she deserves much better than what Luke can offer her. She also decides to tattoo Jill’s name on her foot as a reminder.

Meanwhile, Wendy and Marjorie bond throughout the evening, with Wendy admitting that she has abandonment issues that make her suspicious whenever someone shows interest in her.

The episode ends with Bonnie arriving at Christy’s apartment with the newfound wisdom that money cannot buy love. Christy agrees as she nurses her hangover and places her foot on the table, revealing her new tattoo to Bonnie as they talk about their misadventures.
