A new animated series called 'Mother Up' is a refreshing, quick witted take on the traditional animated family format. The show chronicles the misadventures of a single mother named Rudi Wilson (voiced by Eva Longoria) and her two children, Dick and Apple. Rudi is a former music industry executive who is used to having everything her way and is unprepared for the challenges of suburban life such as every day errands, play dates, and PTA meetings. Mother Up features a bright, simple animation style which allows the punchlines to take center stage in this fast paced, sarcastic comedy. The frequent references to pop culture and observations of how we interpret power and wealth serve as excellent food for thought. The villains in this show are the anthropomorphized concepts of greed and avarice, demonstrated in the hilariously exaggerated cruelty of the school bullies and their parents.
