My Life as a Teenage Robot, written by Rob Renzetti for Nickelodeon in 2003, is an animated children's science fantasy series. Set in the futuristic town of Trentmorton, Ohio in the year 2072, the series follows the everyday adventures of a cognizant and sophisticated teenage robot girl named XJ-9 or Jenny Wakeman. Designed and created by her mother, Nora Wakeman, to protect planet Earth, Jenny often becomes excessively involved in typical teenage girl activities rather than attending to her assigned planet-saving duties. Jenny desires to live the life of a normal teenage girl and episodes usually revolve around her struggle to balance her two lives. The series' thematic focus is poking lighthearted fun at typical adolescent problems through telling the story of the series' protagonist.
