In season 3 episode 21 of Mysteries at the Museum, viewers are taken on a journey through one of the most daring heists in history: the Great Train Robbery. The episode follows Don Wildman as he delves into the crime that took place in 1963, when a group of robbers targeted a train carrying millions of pounds in cash. The robbers took the money and disappeared into the night, leaving authorities scrambling to catch them.

Wildman begins his investigation at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in England, where he meets with historian Bill Wright to explore the train that was robbed. The train, nicknamed the "Bridego Mail," was carrying money from London to Glasgow when it was targeted by thieves in the early hours of August 8th, 1963. Using explosives, the robbers blew open the door to the mail car, then overpowered the staff and made off with their haul.

From the railway center, Wildman travels to Cheddington, the small village where the gang had rented a farmhouse and planned the heist. Here, he explores an exhibit at the local museum that shows some of the equipment the robbers used to carry out the robbery, including the infamous coshes that were used to knock out the train guards.

Wildman also visits the Leathersellers' Livery Company in London, where he learns about one of the key players in the case: a man named Brian Field. Field was a solicitor who had been hired by the robbers to provide them with a hideout after the heist. However, Field was eventually caught and became a key witness for the prosecution in the trial that followed.

Finally, Wildman travels to the Old Bailey courthouse in London to learn about the trial of the Great Train Robbers. He meets with expert Sandra Lean to explore the courtroom where the case was heard and to see some of the evidence that was presented, including a suitcase that was found in the home of one of the robbers.

Throughout the episode, Wildman provides insight into the motives and methods of the robbers, as well as the impact that the crime had on British society. He also explores the legacy of the Great Train Robbery, including its influence on popular culture. Through interviews with historians and experts, as well as access to key artifacts and locations, Mysteries at the Museum provides a fascinating look at one of the most intriguing crimes in recent history.
