Nitro Circus Live is a television show featuring highlights from the live performance show of the same name. Nitro Circus is a group of action sports enthusiasts from around the world with Travis Pastrana as the figure head. Travis got his start in motocross and supercross and later moved to freestyle motocross, where he became a dominant competitor. He has won many Xgames medals and has since branched out to many different motor sports while maintaining his reputation as a stunt performer. The collective of action sports enthusiasts started out releasing DVDs in the early 2000s. Good DVD sales lead to the formation of the original TV show, Nitro Circus. With good ratings and a strong following, the crew decided to take the show on the road. By bringing the action to the fans, a new level of showmanship was born. The tour started out in Australia where the crew performed before sell out crowds. The success of first tour has prompted a second and plans for bringing the show to North America are being worked out with dates to be determined. The tour's success is due largely to the variety of sports and stunts it incorporates. The majority of action sports are represented in the show including BMX, skateboarding, freestyle motocross, and scooters. The show doesn't limit itself to traditional action sports or even action sports typically found on land. Included in the lineup are skis, trikes, body boards, and even a cooler contraption with wheels sent flying off the mega ramp with a rider inside. Also featured is Aaron Wheels Fotheringham, the first wheelchair athlete to do a back flip. In the show, he routinely back flips off the 60 foot gigant-a-ramp. The excitement of the crowd pushes the performers to attempt high flying stunts and death defying maneuvers regularly reserved for world class competitions. The mixture of high energy personalities with professionally competitive skills creates a competitive atmosphere with each person trying to impress their peers and wow the crowd.
