- January 21, 2018
In season 3 episode 3 of North Woods Law: New Hampshire, titled "No Room for Error," viewers follow the game wardens of New Hampshire as they patrol the state's vast wilderness. In this episode, the wardens face a variety of challenges, including an ATV accident, a burglary call, and a dangerous water rescue.
The episode starts with Game Warden Graham Courtney and K-9 Sig investigating a burglary call at a seasonal home. The owners are concerned that someone has broken in while they were away, and the wardens scour the property for clues. Sig sniffs around the perimeter of the house, but the suspects are long gone. The wardens reassure the homeowners that they will keep an eye on the property and investigate further if necessary.
Next, Game Warden Eric Hannett is called to the scene of an ATV accident in a remote part of the state. An ATV rider has lost control and flipped his vehicle, injuring himself in the process. Hannett must navigate treacherous terrain and dense woods to get to the scene of the accident, and once there, he must provide first aid until additional help arrives. The rider is eventually airlifted to a hospital for treatment, but Hannett knows that accidents like this can be deadly in the wilderness.
Meanwhile, Game Warden Dave Meyers is on patrol in the state forest when he comes across a group of ATVers. The riders are not wearing helmets, and they are speeding down narrow trails. Meyers stops them and explains the importance of safety and following the rules, but the riders are resistant. Meyers reminds them that he has the authority to seize their vehicles if they continue to break the law, and eventually, the riders comply with his instructions.
Later in the episode, Game Warden Wayne Saunders is called to a dangerous water rescue on the Androscoggin River. A couple has overturned their canoe in rough waters, and they are clinging to the side of it, unable to get to safety. Saunders and a team of other wardens quickly respond to the scene and attempt to navigate upstream to reach the couple. The current is strong, and the situation is tense, but the wardens are able to reach the couple and pull them to safety.
Throughout the episode, viewers also see glimpses of the wardens' personal lives. Meyers spends time with his family and discusses the challenges of balancing work and home life. Hannett talks about the joys of being a father and raising his children in the outdoors. Courtney reflects on the emotional toll of the job and acknowledges the importance of self-care.
"No Room for Error" is a fast-paced episode that showcases the dangers and rewards of being a game warden in New Hampshire.
