In Occupied season 1 episode 9, titled December, tensions between the Norwegian government and the Russians reach new heights as the deadline imposed by the EU for the occupation of Norway draws near.
In the episode, the Norwegian Prime Minister, Jesper Berg, continues to struggle with the decision to acquiesce to the Russians and their demands for access to Norway's oil reserves and the reopening of the Kolsaas military base. His chief of staff, Anita Rygg, urges him to hold the line and refuse to give in to Russian pressure, but Berg is torn between his duty to his country and his desire to avoid a potentially disastrous conflict.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian secret police, led by Hans Martin Djupvik, work to uncover a plot by right-wing extremists to stage a terrorist attack on the Russian embassy in Oslo. Djupvik becomes increasingly convinced that the Russian "resistance" group is behind the plot, but struggles to gather sufficient evidence to stop the attack before it occurs.
As the day of the EU deadline approaches, tensions between the Russians and the Norwegian government reach a boiling point. A last-minute meeting between Berg and the Russian ambassador, Irina Sidorova, takes a dangerous turn when Sidorova reveals her true intentions and demands that the Norwegian government publicly declare its support for the occupation.
With the clock ticking down and the fate of Norway in the balance, the characters of Occupied season 1 episode 9 are forced to confront the harsh realities of politics and power in a world on the brink of war. Can Berg and his team find a way to resist the Russian occupation and protect their sovereignty, or will they be forced to surrender to the new world order being imposed upon them? Only time will tell in this gripping episode of Occupied.
