The Booth Job is the fifth episode of the second season of the American television series Parenthood. It originally aired on October 5, 2010, on NBC.

The episode opens with Adam and Crosby working at the Luncheonette, their new recording studio, when Adam's wife Kristina comes in with a potential client, a band named Ashes of Rome. The band is interested in recording an album with the Luncheonette but only if they can do it on the cheap. Adam's hesitant at first, but after hearing the band play, he sees potential in them and agrees to work with them.

Meanwhile, Sarah is in a bit of trouble at school. Her boss, Mr. Cyr, is angry at her for leaving work early without asking permission. Sarah is frustrated with her job as a substitute teacher and has been trying to come up with a way to quit without getting fired. She confides in her brother Adam about her situation, and he suggests that she try to get a job at the Luncheonette.

Elsewhere, Julia is facing a parenting crisis. Sydney, her four-year-old daughter, has become increasingly difficult to handle and is constantly acting out. Julia's husband Joel suggests that they bring Sydney to a child psychologist, but Julia is resistant to the idea. She doesn't want to believe that there's anything wrong with her daughter. But after a particularly trying day, Julia finally agrees to take Sydney to see a professional.

Lastly, we have the storyline of Zeek and Drew. Drew is learning to drive and has been practicing with Zeek, but the two of them don't seem to be connecting. Zeek is quick to criticize Drew's driving and Drew is frustrated with how little patience his grandfather has. However, after a scary incident on the road, Zeek finally opens up to Drew and shares a story from his own past that helps the two of them bond.

The Booth Job is a great showcase for the ensemble cast of Parenthood. Each storyline delves into the characters' personal lives and challenges, giving the actors room to shine. The episode also marks an important turning point for some of the characters. Adam's decision to work with Ashes of Rome has consequences down the line, and Sarah's attempts to change her life take a surprising turn.

Ultimately, however, it's the episode's exploration of family dynamics that resonates the most. Whether it's Sydney's behavior or Zeek's relationship with Drew, The Booth Job is a reminder that even the closest families have their issues, and that sometimes it takes a crisis to bring people together.
