Season 1 Episode 4, titled "Psychic Moose / Doll and Chain," is a delightful and hilarious installment that showcases Pepper Ann's wild imagination and her unique problem-solving skills.
In the first half of the episode, "Psychic Moose," Pepper Ann becomes convinced that a giant moose puppet that she and her friends come across during a school field trip is sending her secret psychic messages. While her friends initially think that Pepper Ann is being ridiculous, they begin to have second thoughts when some of her predictions start to come true. Pepper Ann becomes increasingly obsessed with decoding the moose's messages, even to the point of sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night to investigate. What follows is a wacky and entertaining adventure that involves Pepper Ann's trusty sidekick, her pet cat, and a very skeptical school counselor.
In the second half of the episode, "Doll and Chain," Pepper Ann has a different problem on her hands. She wants to enter a school talent show with her friends, but they can't agree on what to perform. When her best friend, Milo, suggests that they put on a puppet show, Pepper Ann eagerly agrees, thinking it will be a surefire hit. However, when she discovers that they will be performing with her old childhood doll, Priscilla, she becomes embarrassed and afraid of what her friends will think. She tries to hide the doll, but when it ends up in the hands of her little sister, Moose, she has to come to terms with the fact that it's okay to have sentimental attachments to things from her past.
