Episode 2 of season 4 of Poldark picks up right where the first episode left off. Ross and Demelza have returned home, but tensions are high between them as they try to cope with the sudden loss of their daughter, Julia. Demelza is appalled by the cruel treatment of the slaves and vows to make changes, but soon realizes that it will be much harder than she anticipated.

As the episode progresses, tensions continue to rise on all fronts. Ross and Ray clash over Ned's fate, while Demelza struggles to navigate the complicated world of plantation management. Meanwhile, Morwenna faces her own struggles as she tries to deal with the aftermath of the birth of her child, and George Warleggan continues to plot his revenge against Ross.
