Ep 1. Like Narnia But Sexy

As two teenagers, Laura and Jamie, explore each other's bodies in a bedroom filled with memorabilia, their intimacy is rudely interrupted by Laura's dad Ken - revealed as an overprotective police sergeant - exclaiming that Jamie is 16, and therefore still a minor. He demands that Jamie immediately depart, and tells Laura to put some clothes on. Laura, mortified, wonders how she can deal with her feelings for Jamie when her father is so dictatorial.

Meanwhile, Jamie confides in his friend Mike. He has been seeing Laura for two weeks and fears that Ken will ruin everything. When Mike suggests that all they need is a little alcohol to loosen Ken up, the two hatch a clumsy plan, and Mike is tasked with buying some booze from an off-license.

At the same time, Laura busies herself with finding ways to covertly communicate with Jamie, such as hiding a note in a pen or using heart emojis in their Facebook chat. At her after-school job, she is ridiculed by her boss, Danielle, for being 'barely legal' and a 'sex offender's dream' resulting in her quitting.

Jamie's mother and sister, somewhat understanding of his situation, passively listen as he expresses his hopelessness. His sister suggests that he contact his dad, Keith, who left Jamie and his mum when Jamie was younger, but Mike dismisses the idea, claiming that Keith has no interest in Jamie.

When Laura and Jamie convince Ken to go out for the evening, Mike seizes the opportunity and brings a bottle of alcohol to Laura's house. However, Laura's conservative best friend Beth catches them and, out of misguided morals, calls Ken in a panic. Laura's plan is further disrupted when Jamie's house is unexpectedly occupied, causing them to frantically search for another place to hook up.

The episode culminates with Laura and Jamie attempting to hook up in a newly constructed "squidgy castle," although a drunken BBC cameraman camera crew has unknowingly taken over the inner caverns to film a glamour model. As the episode ends, the teens are scrambling to escape the area, but not before Laura discovers that Jamie is still a virgin.

Pramface season one episode one, titled "Like Narnia but Sexy," sets the precedent for the series and introduces the audience to the lives of the characters. Laura and Jamie's relationship becomes more complicated as they navigate their parental and societal pressures. With hilarious misunderstandings and the awkwardness of trying to fit in, Pramface takes a lighthearted, though poignant look at teenage pregnancy. This first episode is a charming and witty introduction to the show, which remains one of the most entertaining coming-of-age sitcoms of the past decade.
