Ryoma continues to prove himself as one of the top tennis players at Seishun Academy. He's surprised to find that the captain of the tennis team, Tezuka, plays tennis with his non-dominant hand. However, it's not just Tezuka's technique that impresses Ryoma but also his calm and collected attitude. This ability comes in handy when Tezuka and Ryoma are forced to play doubles together in a match against St. Rudolph's tennis team.
St. Rudolph's tennis team captain is a player known as "The Snake," and he lives up to his nickname by playing a very aggressive and ruthless style of tennis. He's also very skilled at psychological manipulation, using his words to get under his opponents' skin and throw them off their game. These tactics prove largely ineffective against the Seishun team though, whose members remain focused and undeterred even when the score is against them.
As the match against St. Rudolph's continues, Ryoma begins to feel the pressure of playing doubles with Tezuka, a player who is normally very reserved and serious. However, he's impressed to find that Tezuka is actually capable of displaying a sense of humor and he appreciates the rare moments when Tezuka lightens up.
The game between Seishun and St. Rudolph's reaches a fever pitch as the score becomes closer and closer. It comes down to a single point that could determine the outcome of the entire match. The Snake lunges for the ball with all his might, but Ryoma manages to return it with a powerful and skillful shot. The Snake is stunned, and Seishun prevails with a score of 8-6.
After the match, the Seishun team is ecstatic to celebrate their hard-earned victory. However, this is short-lived as they realize that the next team they'll be facing, Rokkaku, is even stronger than St. Rudolph's. Ryoma's competitive spirit is fully ignited and he knows he must continue to push himself to his limits.
"The Man They Called Snake" is an exciting episode that showcases the heart and determination of Seishun's tennis team as they take on tough opponents and come out on top. It's a testament to the power of teamwork and the importance of staying focused and confident in the face of adversity. Additionally, viewers are treated to some comedic moments as Tezuka's more lighthearted side is briefly revealed. This episode sets the stage for the drama and excitement that are sure to come in future episodes of Prince of Tennis.
