Prince of Tennis Season 3 Episode 2 Kaoru's Special Training

  • October 23, 2002

Keigo Atobe has come up with a challenge for Seigaku to play against Hyotei in a mixed doubles match. In preparation for the match, Kaoru has been given special training by Tachibana Kippei and Oshitari Yuushi. The training consists of Kaoru playing against pairs of Hyotei's strongest players, who are notorious for their technique of backing each other up to disrupt the opponent's rhythm.

In the first round of training, Kaoru is paired with Inui against Kabaji and Hiyoshi. Inui's sharp observation skills and data gathering abilities combined with Kaoru's trick shots and precise timing lead them to victory. However, they soon face a setback when they are matched against Atobe and Oshitari.

Atobe and Oshitari's chemistry and teamwork are unmatched, making it difficult for Kaoru and Inui to win any points. Kaoru becomes increasingly frustrated with his inability to break through their defense and feels like he is letting his team down. Inui encourages him to keep a level head and use this experience to learn and grow.

Next, they face Jiroh and Gakuto. Despite their seemingly laid-back attitude, Jiroh's quick reflexes and Gakuto's unpredictable slice shots make them formidable opponents. Kaoru and Inui struggle to keep up with Jiroh's sudden movements and Gakuto's unconventional techniques. However, they manage to turn the game around by exploiting Gakuto's weakness in his stamina.

In the final training match, Kaoru is paired with Eiji against Mukahi and Ootori. The two pairs are evenly matched and the game is filled with intense rallies and acrobatic shots. Eiji's acrobatics and Kaoru's misdirection shots complement each other well, but Mukahi and Ootori's teamwork is equally impressive. In the end, Kaoru and Eiji manage to secure a narrow victory by combining their special moves.

As the training comes to a close, Kaoru feels grateful to have had the opportunity to play against such skilled opponents and learn from them. He realizes that his initial frustration and self-doubt were unfounded and that he has grown as a player. The upcoming mixed doubles match against Hyotei will undoubtedly be a tough challenge, but Seigaku is better prepared thanks to Kaoru's special training.
