Ep 19. The Professionals

The episode begins with Malcolm Bright (played by Tom Payne) being called to a crime scene that seems to be straight out of a horror movie. As a former FBI profiler, he is used to dealing with gruesome scenes but this one is particularly disturbing. The victim's body is found hanging from a tree, his organs removed and arranged around him like a macabre offering.

As Malcolm investigates the crime, he comes to the realization that the killer may be a group of professionals, individuals who are experts in their respective fields and who use their knowledge to commit the perfect crime. This theory is further supported by the fact that the victim was a wealthy businessman who had recently been involved in legal disputes with some of these same professionals.

Malcolm realizes that in order to catch the killer, he needs to go undercover and infiltrate this group of professionals. He enlists the help of his sister Ainsley (played by Halston Sage), who is a journalist looking for her big break. Together, they devise a plan to infiltrate the group by posing as a wealthy couple who are in need of their services.

As they attend the group's meetings, Malcolm and Ainsley start to uncover more details about the group and their operations. They witness some disturbing practices, such as the group's use of drugs to control their targets and their willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.

However, things start to get complicated when Malcolm starts to develop feelings for one of the members, a woman named Vera who seems genuinely interested in him. He starts to question his own motives and wonders if he is getting too close to the group.

Meanwhile, back at the police station, things are not going well for Gil Arroyo (played by Lou Diamond Phillips) and his team. They are under pressure to solve the case quickly, and their frustration only grows as Malcolm seems to be getting more and more involved with the group.

In the end, Malcolm and Ainsley's undercover operation yields some crucial information that leads them to the killer. However, they also learn some shocking truths about the group and their connections to some very powerful people. The episode ends with Malcolm and Ainsley wondering whether they have made a terrible mistake by getting involved with the group and whether they will be able to get out alive.
