In Project Blue Book season 2 episode 9, titled "Broken Arrow," tensions are high as the team investigates a series of strange occurrences at a military base in Nevada. Major General Hugh Valentine (played by guest star Robert John Burke) has requested the help of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen) and Captain Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey) to investigate a potential UFO sighting at the base. But as they dig deeper, they discover that this is only the tip of the iceberg.

The episode opens with a training exercise gone wrong. A missile somehow goes off-course and crashes into a storage facility on the base, resulting in a massive explosion. The base's commanding officer, Colonel Crawford (played by guest star David Reale), is quick to blame the accident on human error. But when Hynek and Quinn arrive, they quickly realize that there might be more to the story.

As they interview witnesses and examine the wreckage, they begin to uncover a pattern of strange incidents at the base. Personnel have reported seeing mysterious lights in the sky and experiencing strange illnesses. The more they investigate, the more it becomes clear that something unusual is happening at the base.

Complicating matters is the presence of a civilian journalist, Annie Jacobs (played by guest star Laura Mennell), who is determined to get to the bottom of what's happening at the base. Quinn is wary of Jacobs, but Hynek sees her as a potential ally, especially when she reveals that she has information about a top-secret program at the base called "Project Blue Book." The program, which was supposedly disbanded after Hynek's involvement in season one, was actually continued in secret, with Crawford at the helm.

As Hynek and Quinn delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding the base, they begin to suspect that there may be a connection between the strange sightings and the military's nuclear weapons program. Could an extraterrestrial presence be interested in the base's nuclear arsenal? And could the military's attempts to cover up their encounters with UFOs be putting the entire world at risk?

As tensions mount and the clock ticks down, Hynek and Quinn must race against the clock to prevent a "Broken Arrow" scenario - a nuclear accident or detonation - that could have catastrophic consequences. But with the military's secrets and agendas at every turn, and the potential presence of otherworldly forces, can they truly trust anyone?

"Broken Arrow" is a tense and exciting episode of Project Blue Book that pushes the show's narrative forward in surprising ways. With strong guest star performances, unexpected twists and turns, and an ominous sense of foreboding, it's a must-see installment for fans of the series.
