In the fourth episode of season two of the Australian television show Rake, titled R vs Floyd, viewers are presented with a courtroom drama that sees Cleaver Greene (played by Richard Roxburgh) in action once again.

The episode begins with a brief moment of levity as we see Greene being woken up by another woman in his bed. Despite this hiccup, Greene quickly gets back to work as he is defending Kane Floyd (played by Tim Minchin), a stand-up comedian accused of defaming another comedian in a radio interview. Floyd, who is also a friend of Greene, is unsure of what to do with his defense and is hesitant to take the stand.

As the trial begins, it quickly becomes clear that the judge is not a fan of Greene's tactics and takes particular issue with his use of the "Parrot Defence" as a way to question witnesses. However, Greene is determined to get his client off and is not afraid to bend the rules a little to make it happen. He finds himself in a race against time to prove Floyd's innocence and convince the jury that he did not defame the other comedian.

Throughout the trial, Greene faces challenges from both the prosecution and his own client. The prosecutor, Maxine Reynolds (played by Caroline Brazier), is determined to make sure that Floyd is found guilty and uses every available tactic to do so. Floyd, on the other hand, is less than cooperative and makes it difficult for Greene to build a strong case.

Adding to the drama of the episode is Greene's complicated personal life. In addition to the woman in his bed at the beginning of the episode, he is also dealing with tension with his estranged wife, Wendy (played by Caroline Craig). Wendy is not happy with the way that Greene is handling the trial and is afraid that he may be putting their son's safety at risk.

Despite these hurdles, Greene manages to get to the heart of the matter and uncovers evidence that could save Floyd from a conviction. With the clock ticking down, he must use all of his legal expertise and persuasive charm to convince the jury of his client's innocence.

As the episode draws to a close, we see a triumphant Greene emerge from the courthouse, having successfully defended Floyd and secured his freedom. However, the victory is bittersweet as we see the toll that the trial has taken on all involved. Floyd is left feeling empty and alone, while Greene must continue to navigate the complicated waters of his personal and professional life.

Overall, R vs Floyd is a tense and gripping episode that showcases the strengths of the show's cast and writing. With its compelling characters and complex storyline, it is a must-watch for fans of legal dramas.
