Record of Grancrest War Season 1 Episode 2 Ambition

Galess and Siluca are now wandering together on their way to find another Lord to serve after falling out with their previous master, the Lord of Savis. As they walk, they notice the landscape around them is starting to change, with dead bodies and destroyed towns as far as they can see. Siluca is understandably concerned about this, but Galass reassures her that it is normal during the war, and the chaos will soon pass.

They soon come across a group of soldiers, lead by a young and ambitious Knight named Irvin. He exclaims that he is fighting for his home country, and offers to let Galass and Siluca join his army. Galass politely declines and explains that they are looking for a new Lord to serve, but Irvin insists that they stay, saying that he could really use the help and promising to protect them.

Galass and Siluca soon learn that Irvin's true intentions were to become the ruler of his country by using his army to seize control of a powerful fortress. He assigned his army to be commanded by a trusted friend and leaves to oversee the battle, planning to use the victory to gain the trust of the people and be recognized as a true ruler.

However, the battle quickly goes bad as the enemies use their magic to crush Irvin's army. Siluca realizes that she may be able to turn the battle around if they can just figure out a way to neutralize the enemy's mages. However, she knows that she needs to act quickly as the situation is rapidly becoming extremely dangerous for Irvin and his troops.

Siluca uses her magic to create a portal that leads directly to a mage working for the enemy army. She quickly engages in combat, fending him off long enough to weaken the enemy's spellcasting and help Irvin gain the upper hand. With the mage neutralized, Irvin's army is able to take the fortress and secure control of the territory.

The aftermath of the battle brings many questions and uncertainty. Siluca and Galess notice Irvin losing his moral compass and beginning to act cruel and ruthless as he gains power. Siluca realizes that she has helped Irvin to achieve his ambition, but at a cost to herself and the people around her. She is now forced to consider whether she is willing to continue to fight for Irvin and his selfish ambitions, or whether it’s time to move on and search for someone else to serve.
