As a socially-awkward NEET, Morioka Moriko has found solace in the online world of MMO games, where she can be whoever she wants to be without fear of judgment. In episode 4, titled "Like a Maiden in Love," Moriko finds herself unintentionally getting closer to her gaming friend Lily, whom she suspects is actually a man in real life.
After an intense gaming session, Moriko realizes that she has caught feelings for Lily, a realization that makes her feel both excited and nervous. As she tries to navigate these newfound feelings, she also starts to worry about her appearance and how she presents herself online. She frets over whether or not she should tell Lily her true identity and how he will react if he finds out that she's actually a woman in real life.
Meanwhile, at her part-time job, Moriko runs into her former colleague Yuta Sakurai, whom she had a crush on in the past. She feels embarrassed and flustered around him, unsure of how to act given her current feelings for Lily. When Yuta takes notice of Moriko's obvious discomfort, he assumes that she is still interested in him and invites her to go see a movie together.
As Moriko agonizes over her conflicting emotions, she decides to confide in her MMO guildmate Homare, who offers her some sage advice. Homare recognizes that Moriko is stressing out over something that is ultimately out of her control and urges her to focus on what she can do, rather than what she can't. Inspired by Homare's words, Moriko decides to take control of the situation and tell Lily the truth about her gender.
