  • January 1, 1969

Lady, Lady, Take My Life is the ninth episode of the first season of the anthology series Night Gallery, hosted by Rod Serling. The episode originally aired on December 16, 1970, and was directed by Jeff Corey.

The episode tells the story of a married couple, George and Alma Tuttle, who live in a rural area and are struggling financially. George is a farmer who is constantly failing to make ends meet, while Alma is a housewife who dreams of a more glamorous lifestyle. When Alma discovers that her husband has sold their only cow to his brother without telling her, she becomes furious and threatens to leave him.

In the midst of their argument, a strange woman named Lady Halcyon enters their home uninvited. Lady Halcyon is a wealthy and eccentric artist who is known for her bizarre and disturbing paintings. She claims to be an old friend of Alma's and invites herself to stay with the Tuttles for a few days.

Despite Alma's reservations about Lady Halcyon, George welcomes her into their home and even allows her to paint a portrait of Alma. However, as the days go by, strange and unsettling things begin to happen. Alma starts to feel as though Lady Halcyon is trying to take over her life and steal her husband. She becomes increasingly jealous and paranoid, and begins to suspect that Lady Halcyon is not who she claims to be.

As tensions rise between the three of them, George becomes increasingly distant from Alma and starts to spend more time alone with Lady Halcyon. Alma's suspicions are confirmed when she discovers that Lady Halcyon is actually a ghost who died many years ago in a tragic accident.

In the final scene of the episode, Alma confronts Lady Halcyon and tells her that she will never allow her to take her life and her husband away from her. Lady Halcyon disappears, and Alma and George are left alone to try and salvage their marriage.

Lady, Lady, Take My Life is a haunting and suspenseful episode that explores themes of jealousy, betrayal, and the struggle for power in a relationship. With its eerie imagery and tense atmosphere, it remains a classic example of the Night Gallery's unique brand of horror.
