Ep 8. Heartsick

Dr. Charlie Harris, the Chief of Surgery at Hope-Zion Hospital, is in a coma after a car accident. However, he is still able to roam the hospital in a ghost-like state, observing the daily goings-on and struggling with the decision to wake up or let himself go.

In episode 8, "Heartsick," Charlie witnesses the arrival of a new patient, Dr. Gavin Murphy (Kristopher Turner), a cardiac surgeon who has a reputation as a "rock star." At the same time, Alex is dealing with a patient named Louise, whose husband is in a coma and eventually passes away. Louise is struggling to come to terms with her loss and the fact that her husband kept secrets from her, and Alex tries to offer her comfort and support.

The episode reaches its climax as Gavin's condition worsens and he realizes he has no choice but to go through with surgery. As he is wheeled into the operating room, Charlie watches from the sidelines, struggling with his own decision to wake up.
