Ep 1. My Interns Eyes

In the season 5 premiere of Scrubs, titled "My Intern's Eyes," we see a fresh batch of interns starting at Sacred Heart Hospital. J.D. is determined to be the best teacher possible, vying for the title of "most popular" with his fellow attending physicians, Cox and Turk. Meanwhile, Elliot struggles to find her place in the hospital hierarchy as a resident, constantly being undermined by her own interns.

The episode kicks off with J.D. anxiously awaiting the arrival of his new interns. When they finally show up, he's surprised to find they're all actually competent (despite his initial assumption that they're all "fresh-faced and dewy-eyed"). In particular, J.D. takes a shine to Keith, a handsome and eager intern who he quickly nicknames "Newbie."

With their first day underway, J.D. immediately sets the stakes high by challenging his fellow attendings to a "teach-off" - the winner to be determined based on who can teach their interns the most practical knowledge and ultimately garner the most respect. Cox and Turk quickly accept the challenge, setting the stage for a heated competition throughout the episode.

While J.D. is focused on being the most popular teacher, Elliot is struggling to maintain authority over her own interns. She's constantly being undermined by her boss, Dr. Kelso, who seems to delight in belittling her in front of her subordinates. Elliot tries to cope by channeling her inner "bitch" and asserting herself more forcefully, but her attempts at tough love often fall flat.

As the episode progresses, J.D. begins to bond with Newbie over their shared love of Star Wars, creating a bit of tension between himself and his best friend Turk. Meanwhile, Elliot's interns confide in her about their own fears and insecurities, prompting her to reevaluate her own leadership style.

Without giving too much away, "My Intern's Eyes" is a quintessential Scrubs episode - full of heartwarming moments, wacky hijinks, and plenty of medical mishaps. It's a great kickoff to the season, introducing new characters and storylines while also revisiting old favorites. Fans of the show will not be disappointed.
