Frank Gallagher starts fixing things outside people's houses for money, and soon he becomes obsessed with plumbing. He decides to enroll in a plumbing course at a local technical college. However, his teacher is a strict and dismissive man who completely breaks Frank's confidence. Meanwhile, Fiona tries to convince her boss to give her a promotion, but her lack of education and qualifications make it difficult for her. Lip becomes a mentor to a young boy named Alejandro, whose father is in prison, and struggles to keep him out of trouble. Debbie is still struggling with her unrequited love for Matty and decides to take matters into her own hands. Carl becomes obsessed with street fighting and schedules a big fight. Ian is in a love triangle with Mickey and a fireman named Ned. All of these storylines intertwine as the Gallagher family tries to navigate their unconventional lives.
