In Shop Class season 1 episode 6, titled "Downhill Derby," teams of students are tasked with designing and building a full-sized derby car that can reach impressive speeds while also being able to navigate through a series of challenging obstacles.

With only one week to complete their builds, the teams must collaborate effectively and use their creativity and problem-solving skills to construct a winning car. They start by creating a design plan and then begin building the frame and body of the car.

As they work on their builds, the teams face a number of challenges and setbacks, including failed tests and unexpected design flaws. But with guidance from their teacher and the support of their teammates, they persevere and continue to make progress.

As the race day draws near, the tension in the shop grows. Each team is eager to prove that their car is the best and beat out the other groups. The cars are put through a series of tests to ensure they are safe and up to code, and then the race begins.

With each car speeding down the track, the obstacles prove to be much more challenging than the teams anticipated. But through quick thinking and careful maneuvering, some teams are able to successfully navigate through the obstacles and make it to the finish line. Other teams, however, face setbacks and are eliminated from the competition.

Ultimately, the team with the fastest and most skillfully designed car emerges victorious, earning bragging rights and a sense of accomplishment for all of their hard work. And while the other teams may not have won the race, they learned valuable lessons about teamwork, problem-solving, and the power of perseverance.
