Ep 4. X-Ray

Clark Kent is just an average high school student, or so it seems. In reality, Clark is an alien from another planet, with incredible abilities beyond those of mortal men. In episode four of Smallville's first season, called "X-Ray," Clark must navigate his way through teenage troubles, all while trying to keep his secret safe.

At the beginning of the episode, we find Clark trying to adjust to life in small-town Kansas. He is struggling to fit in at school, where he often feels like an outsider. Despite his best efforts to blend in, Clark's incredible strength and speed often draw unwanted attention. When a classmate named Eric gets too curious about Clark's abilities, Clark is forced to use his powers to protect himself.

As the episode progresses, Clark begins to discover more about his superhuman capabilities. He realizes that he has the ability to see through walls, using x-ray vision. This newfound power allows Clark to spy on his classmates and teachers, discovering secret details about their lives. Meanwhile, Smallville's sheriff, Ethan, is investigating a series of bizarre robberies. In each case, the culprit seems to have disappeared into thin air, leaving no trace behind. When Clark's friend Chloe begins to investigate the robberies as well, she discovers a connection between the thief and a mysterious, underground mutant fight club.

As Clark investigates the fight club, he discovers that one of the mutants is an old childhood friend of his, a girl named Tina. Tina, like Clark, has incredible powers that she is struggling to control. Her x-ray vision, in particular, is causing her great pain and disorientation. She has turned to the mutant fight club as a way to make money and find acceptance in a world where she feels like an outsider.

As Clark tries to help Tina understand and control her powers, he realizes the incredible responsibility that comes with his own abilities. He begins to see that his powers can be used for good, but only if he uses them with caution and wisdom. In the end, Clark must confront his own fears and insecurities, and learn to trust the people around him as he navigates his way through the challenges of teenage life.

"X-Ray" is a tense, exciting episode of Smallville, full of action and suspense. The relationship between Clark and Tina is particularly compelling, as they both struggle to find their place in the world. The episode serves as a reminder of the importance of using one's abilities for good, as well as the danger of using them recklessly or for personal gain. For fans of superhero fiction, "X-Ray" is a must-see episode of Smallville.
