Requiem is the 14th episode of season 8 in the popular American television series Smallville. The episode starts off with a flashback of Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) and Clark Kent (Tom Welling) spending time together before Lana's wedding to Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). However, their happy moment is disrupted by a call from Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) that Lionel Luthor (John Glover) is dead.
In the present, Clark visits Lionel's grave and discovers that it has been emptied. Later, he receives a message from the deceased Lionel asking him to protect his son Lex. Clark knows that it may not be Lionel's message and suspects that it might be Tess Mercer (Cassidy Freeman) trying to lure him into a trap.
Meanwhile, Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) is on a mission to find Lex and bring him to justice for all his crimes. However, he is unaware that Lex has already discovered his plan and is one step ahead of him.
As Clark begins to investigate Lionel's death, he learns that Tess's plan is to use a super-powered creature called Doomsday to eliminate all the superheroes in the world, including Superman. Clark is devastated that his own blood-relative could have created such a monster but is determined to stop him at all costs.
As the episode progresses, we see the return of Lana Lang, who has been keeping a low profile after faking her death to escape Lex's clutches. She reappears in Smallville and seeks Clark's help in obtaining a magical crystal that can help her control her accelerated healing powers. However, Clark is hesitant to help her since he believes it may be too dangerous.
The tension between Clark and Oliver continues to rise, with Oliver accusing Clark of being too soft when it comes to his enemies. Clark, however, sticks to his principles and refuses to kill anyone but rather protect the innocent.
In the final scenes of the episode, we see Clark and Lex confront each other in a battle that will determine the fate of the world. As they fight, Doomsday comes crashing through, ready to attack them both. Clark and Lex temporarily join forces to take down the creature, but the victory is short-lived as Lex manages to escape.
The episode ends with a somber note as Clark reflects on the loss of Lionel and the fact that he has lost another chance to save Lex. He is left to wonder if Lex will ever be redeemed or if he is destined to become the ultimate villain.
Overall, Requiem is a thrilling episode that builds up the tension between the characters and hints at the possibility of a major battle to come. It's a must-watch for fans of Smallville who are eagerly anticipating the final showdown between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.
