In the Star Trek: The Next Generation season 1 episode 23 titled "We'll Always Have Paris," the crew of the Enterprise is dispatched to a remote planet to investigate a time distortion that has caused a team of scientists to disappear. Upon arriving at the planet, they encounter a familiar face - Dr. Paul Manheim, an old flame of Captain Picard's.

Manheim has been conducting experiments with time travel, and it soon becomes clear that his work has led to the creation of the time distortion. As the Enterprise attempts to find a way to reverse the effects of the distortion, several members of the crew begin to experience strange flashbacks from their past.

Meanwhile, Picard must also come to terms with his lingering feelings for Manheim's wife, Jenice, whom he loved many years ago. Their reunion is complicated by the knowledge that his actions may have inadvertently caused the time distortion and put her in danger.

As the situation grows more dire, the crew must work together to unravel the mystery of the time distortion and find a way to repair the damage that has been done. Along the way, they confront difficult truths about their own pasts and the choices they have made, as well as the consequences of playing with the delicate balance of time.

"We'll Always Have Paris" is a thought-provoking exploration of the nature of time and the human psyche, as well as a poignant reminder that even the best intentions can have unintended consequences. With its engaging plot and rich character development, it is a standout episode in the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
