Ep 24. Menage a Troi

In Star Trek: The Next Generation season 3 episode 24, "Menage a Troi," Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William Riker, and Counselor Deanna Troi visit Betazed for a trade conference while leaving the Enterprise in the hands of Lieutenant Commander Data. However, upon arriving on Betazed, they are kidnapped by Ferengi DaiMon Tog, who desires Deanna Troi as his wife.

DaiMon Tog takes the trio to his ship where he tries to woo Deanna Troi with his Ferengi charm, but she remains uninterested. Meanwhile, the Ferengi ship becomes stuck in a unique field of energy which leaves the Enterprise and other rescue ships powerless to free them.

They use their Betazoid telepathic abilities to trick the Ferengi guards into believing that Lwaxana has fallen in love with DaiMon Tog and Deanna with his aide, Farek. The guards' subsequent jealousies initiate a physical brawl, enabling Deanna and Lwaxana to overpower them and escape with Picard and Riker.

In the end, the crew of the Enterprise ultimately save the Ferengi from the energy field and everyone returns safely on board the ship.

This episode explores the dynamics of intergalactic relationships and the different cultures that exist in the Star Trek universe.
