In this episode of Tattoo Nightmares season 2, titled Ink Disasters, three clients come in seeking help to fix their botched tattoos. The first client, Grace, got a tattoo of her ex-boyfriend's name on her ankle only to later regret the decision. The tattoo artist not only misspelled the name but also drew it in a poor form. The team decides to cover-up the name with a beautiful and colourful ocean scene.
Next up is Eric, who got an amateur tattoo of a lion on his forearm while on vacation overseas. The artist not only botched the tattoo, but it also got infected, which left a nasty scar on Eric's arm. The team gets together to cover the scar, leaving Eric with a brand new lion tattoo which he loves.
The final client, Juwanna, has recently been released from prison and wants to remove the tattoo on her face that she got in prison. It is a gang tattoo that she no longer wants to be associated with. The team is a bit hesitant to remove such a visible tattoo, but they decide to give it a try. The tattoo removal process is not easy, and it takes a few sessions to remove it. Due to the sensitivity of the face, they have to work extra carefully, but in the end, they are able to remove the tattoo completely.
Throughout the episode, the team also gives advice on how to avoid getting bad tattoos. They stress the importance of doing proper research before getting a tattoo and finding a reputable artist. They also explain the difference between licensed and unlicensed artists.
In between each client visit, the three tattoo artists—Big Gus, a cover-up specialist, Tommy Helm, a black and grey expert, and Jasmine Rodriguez, the newbie artist and piercing expert—banter and joke around. They share their past experiences with botched tattoos and give insight into the tattoo industry and what makes a good artist.
Overall, Ink Disasters is an interesting and informative episode of Tattoo Nightmares. It’s entertaining to see the before and after transformations of the clients and the artists' skills in covering up or removing bad tattoos. It’s a good reminder to do proper research before going under the needle.
