Ep 20. Echo House

In the Teen Wolf season 3 episode 20, titled "Echo House," Scott and Stiles trek to a mental institution called Eichen House after following the trail of a mysterious and traumatized patient there. The two of them go undercover to see if they could discover any information about the new villain. Lydia overdoses on wolfsbane and gets held as a patient in the same hospital where Stiles and Scott are investigating. To make matters worse, the series continues to darken as there are more secrets and revelations unveiled in each new episode.

The episode takes place in the Echo House, a creepy psychiatric hospital in the woods. It gets an atmospheric vibe as the camera pans around the dim, eerily lit place, where there's just an uncanny feeling of something being wrong. The hospital is full of strange noises, and there's a sense that a malevolent threat lurks behind every corner.

Scott, Stiles, and Lydia are familiar characters at this point in the series, but the Echo House introduces more intriguing secondary characters. We are introduced to Dr. Deaton's sister, who is a staff member at Echo House and aids Scott and Stiles in their attempts to discover information about the new villain. We meet Meredith, a patient with abilities that may surpass Lydia's own, and she can do some troubling things with just a thought. And then there's the oddball orderly, Brunski, who may know more than he lets on. Each character brings an aura of mystery and tension.

As the teens conduct their investigation, they realize that Eichen House has more dark secrets than they initially presumed, from shocking experiments to possibly the supernatural. A sideplot is when Isaac, Allison, and Chris find their way into an eerie abandoned warehouse and encounter a dangerous new threat.

Echo House is a genuinely thrilling episode. It's the kind that gives viewers goosebumps and leaves them with anticipation for the next chapter. There's an intense, almost nightmarish quality to many of the scenes as it gets very much surreal at times, and the final moments of the episode convey a genuine sense of terror. Fans of the show will find themselves eagerly awaiting the next installment, as everything is building to a climactic conclusion in the third season's final episodes.
