In the first episode of Texas Rising, titled "The Lost Soldier Chapter 1," viewers are transported to the year 1836 in the midst of the Texas Revolution. The episode opens with a group of soldiers fighting in the Battle of San Jacinto, which culminated in the defeat of Mexican General Santa Anna's army and marked the end of the Texas Revolution.

However, the victory was bittersweet as the soldier's general, Sam Houston, is left wounded and with a fractured ankle. In the midst of the chaos, a young soldier named Joey Garza becomes separated from his unit and lost in the wilderness.

As the other soldiers begin to regroup and celebrate their victory, tensions arise between Houston and his second-in-command, Mirabeau Lamar, over what steps should be taken next. Houston favors diplomacy and negotiating with the Mexicans for a peaceful resolution, while Lamar believes that they should continue their military campaign to completely expel the Mexicans from Texas.

Meanwhile, Garza is struggling to survive in the wilderness, fending off dangerous animals and experiencing extreme hunger and thirst. He eventually comes across a group of Tejano rebels who are fighting for Texas's independence and joins their ranks.

Back at the military camp, the soldiers are dealing with their own problems as disease begins to spread through their ranks. The situation is exacerbated by a lack of medical supplies and a general feeling of hopelessness among the troops.

Despite the challenges they face, Houston and his team continue to map out their plan for the future of Texas. In a meeting with Mexican commander General Vicente Filisola, Houston lays out his vision for a peaceful and prosperous Texas, but Filisola is unresponsive and unwilling to negotiate.

As the episode comes to a close, Garza and the Tejanos launch a surprise attack on a group of Mexican soldiers, successfully overtaking them and confiscating supplies. Garza proves himself as a valuable member of the team, but his thoughts are always with his fellow soldiers and the hope of one day being reunited with them.

Overall, "The Lost Soldier Chapter 1" sets the stage for the rest of the season, introducing key characters and conflicts while highlighting the hardships and triumphs of the soldiers fighting for Texas's independence. Viewers are left invested in the fate of Garza and the rest of the soldiers, eager to see what challenges and victories lie ahead in the fight for freedom.
