Columbia's now legendary film Lawrence of Arabia picked up the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director for David Lean as well as a few other for various crew contributions - but the drama The Miracle Worker came out on top as the year's big winner. Anne Bancroft won Best Actress for her role in the film, also Patty Duke won for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Gregory Peck won Best Actor for his role in To Kill a Mockingbird, and Steve Broidy received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for his contributions to the industry.
