The 9th annual Oscars ceremony saw The Great Ziegfeld as the big winner of the year with it picking up a total of three awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress (Luise Rainer). Walt Disney Productions also picked up an award for Short Subject/Cartoon of the year for their Silly Symphony Series outing The Country Cousin.
