Ep 1. You're a Champion, Prove It

In the first episode of the 30th season of The Amazing Race, titled "You're a Champion, Prove It," the race kicks off in New York City's Washington Square Park with eleven teams of two embarking on a global adventure. The teams come from a variety of backgrounds and include twins, competitive eaters, IndyCar drivers, a violinist and a pianist, firefighters, and retired NBA players.

The first leg of the race takes the teams to Iceland, where they are tasked with finding a marked car and driving themselves to the first destination, a waterfall. Along the way, they encounter challenges such as finding and herding sheep, completing a puzzle to get their next clue, and bungee jumping off a bridge.

The teams race against each other to be the first to complete the challenges and reach the pit stop at the end of the leg, where the last team to arrive will be eliminated. Along the way, tensions rise as teams struggle with navigation, communication, and physical challenges.

One of the standout moments of the episode is when competitive eaters Joey Chestnut and Tim Janus struggle with the Icelandic delicacy of fermented shark and are unable to finish the challenge. The twins, Alex and Conor, also face a setback when they miss a crucial clue and have to backtrack, putting them behind the other teams.

In the end, one team is eliminated, and the remaining ten teams continue on to the next leg of the race, which will take them to Belgium. The first leg of the race sets the tone for an exciting and unpredictable season as the teams continue to face challenges and obstacles in their quest to win the million-dollar prize.
