Set in the idyllic town of Brokenwood, New Zealand, The Brokenwood Mysteries follows Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd and his team as they unravel complex murder cases. In season 3 episode 3, titled "The Killing Machine," a fastidious inventor named Miles "The machine" Garrity is found dead in his workshop, surrounded by his automated creations.
As Detective Inspector Shepherd (Neill Rea) and his partner Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland) begin investigating, they discover that Garrity had numerous enemies in his personal and professional life. His former business partner, an ex-employee, and even his own daughter are all possible suspects. With each person they interview, new secrets and motives emerge, and the detectives must piece together the puzzle of Garrity's murder.
Complicating matters is Garrity's advanced technology, which seems to have a mind of its own. From a robotic arm with deadly potential to a self-driving car, the detectives must navigate this new world of automated inventions to find the killer.
As the investigation progresses, tensions rise, and the team begins to suspect that someone close to Garrity may be the culprit. With twists and turns at every corner, "The Killing Machine" keeps viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
