Ep 4. Why Are You Hitting Yourself?

It's the 1980s and the Goldbergs are back for another hilarious installment as they navigate through life in season one, episode four titled "Why Are You Hitting Yourself?"

The episode begins with Adam and Barry being rowdy brothers and playing a game of "Why Are You Hitting Yourself?" in their room. Their fun is abruptly halted when Beverly walks in and scolds them for their behavior, warning them that if they continue to behave in such a manner, they will end up like their father, Murray, who has a tendency to take out his frustrations on other people, including his own children.

Erica is torn between wanting to do a good job and sticking to the original script or standing up to Dana and demanding her vision for the play be respected.

As the episode progresses, Adam and Barry find themselves in even more trouble as they accidentally break a vase that belonged to Beverly's mother. Fearing their mother's wrath, the boys decide to try and recreate the vase themselves, leading to even more disastrous results.

Meanwhile, Erica finally reaches her breaking point and confronts Dana about her behavior, resulting in a showdown between the two girls. In the end, Erica stands up for herself and refuses to compromise her artistic vision for the play.

Back at home, Murray is struggling with his own demons as he tries to quit smoking. His attempts to quit are made even more difficult when Adam and Barry decide to play a prank on him, causing him to think he has accidentally started smoking again.
