Ep 18. Schmoopie's Big Adventure

Beverly and Murray are excited to have a weekend alone together, but Adam interrupts their plans when he reveals that Pops and Uncle Marvin have given him permission to go to the mall with his friends. Beverly reluctantly agrees, but insists that Adam bring his girlfriend, Jackie, with them to keep an eye on him.

Meanwhile, Erica and Geoff attempt to make their own version of a romantic comedy, but their filming is constantly interrupted by a noisy neighbor named Schmoopie. They soon discover that Schmoopie is actually a dog and they decide to take him on an adventure around town to find his owner, leading to chaotic hijinks along the way.

Back at the mall, Adam's plans to spend time with Jackie are thwarted when his friends get distracted by a new arcade game. Frustrated by their disinterest in spending time with his girlfriend, Adam retreats to a pet store and finds himself bonding with a parrot named Louie. As the day goes on, Adam and Louie become inseparable, causing Beverly to worry about the effect the bird is having on Adam's behavior.

As Erica and Geoff continue their search for Schmoopie's owner, they find themselves in increasingly ridiculous situations, including getting stuck in a tree and breaking into someone's house. Eventually, they are able to reunite Schmoopie with his owner, but not before learning a valuable lesson about selflessness and putting others before themselves.

Back at home, Adam is heartbroken when he discovers that Louie belongs to a family who has been searching for him all day. After tearfully saying goodbye to his new feathered friend, Adam returns home with a newfound appreciation for spending time with loved ones and the importance of making decisions that benefit others.

As the episode comes to a close, Beverly and Murray return from their weekend away and are surprised to find a newly responsible Adam waiting for them. The family reflects on the importance of being there for one another and making the most of every moment together, as the camera pans out to reveal a framed photo of Louie and Adam on Adam's nightstand.
