Ep 1. The Gang Deals with Alternate Reality

The Good Fight season 4 episode 1, "The Gang Deals with Alternate Reality," picks up where season 3 left off, with the law firm of Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart having been forced out of their own space and onto the streets. The episode opens with the gang living in a cramped and cluttered conference room, struggling to come up with a game plan for how to move forward in the wake of the eviction.

As they work through their options, the characters begin to explore the idea of what their lives would look like if they had taken a different path. This leads to a series of alternate reality scenarios, each offering a glimpse of how things might have turned out had the characters made different choices in the past.

First up is Lucca, who imagines what her life might have been like if she had never become a lawyer. In this alternate reality, she's a stay-at-home mom with a loving husband and a beautiful baby boy. While she revels in the joys of motherhood and domesticity, she quickly realizes that she's not cut out for this life, and begins to feel trapped and unfulfilled.

Next, Marissa wonders what things would be like if she had pursued a career as a singer. In this alternate reality, she's a successful pop star with a huge following and fans all around the world. While she loves the thrill of performing and being in the spotlight, she also realizes that the price of fame can be very high, and she soon misses her old life and the familiar comforts of home.

Meanwhile, Adrian explores an alternate reality where he's never met Liz, the woman he's been in love with for decades. In this version of his life, he's happily married to someone else, with children and a successful legal career. But despite all of his blessings, he's haunted by the memory of Liz, and can't shake the feeling that something crucial is missing.

Finally, Diane imagines what it would have been like if she had run for president in 2016 and won. In this alternate reality, she's the most powerful person in the world, with the ability to shape policy and make important decisions that affect millions of people. But even with all of this power, she realizes that she's still facing many of the same challenges and obstacles that she did as a lawyer, and that the world is still a difficult and messy place.

Throughout the episode, the characters continue to grapple with the realities of their current situation, and struggle to come up with a plan for how to get back on their feet. But even as they work towards building a new future, they can't help but wonder what might have been if they had made different choices along the way.
