An hour long drama, The Heights focused on a rock band, appropriately dubbed The Heights, that consisted of young adults comfortably in middle class living (their suburb also called The Heights) and every episode brought a new song from the fictional band. Though the show didn't last very long, the series' music had a large impact in pop culture, the theme song of the show, "How Do You Talk to an Angel," charting all the way up at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. "How Do You Talk to an Angel" became the first song produced by a television series to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1985.

The songs were all sung by the cast themselves, each playing their own instruments as well. Each song connected to the particular stories of relationships and crises among these suburban young adults every episode. From falling in love and weddings to making poor decisions and road trips, The Heights attempts to capture the intimate goings-on of society's youth.
